One study found that receiving acupuncture before and after embryo transfer significantly increased the pregnancy rates in women with unexplained infertility. It was also found that acupuncture significantly reduced anxiety levels that occurred before embryo transfer. In another study, 42.5% of patients who received acupuncture before embryo transfer had a positive pregnancy rate as compared to only 26.3% in the group that did not receive acupuncture.

Receiving acupuncture just before embryo transfer helps the body in several ways. Treatments ready your body by preparing the uterus and uterine lining for implantation. While preparing the physical body for this procedure is important, the mind must also be considered. Acupuncture helps reduce stress and bring balance to the entire body so you can feel balanced and in harmony as you go into the procedure.
Acupuncture Post Embryo Transfer
Taking care of yourself after the transfer is just as important as before the transfer. Receiving acupuncture immediately following embryo transfer is an effective way to increase the chances of successful implantation. This session will improve the health of your reproductive system while also helping reduce stress.
In addition to receiving acupuncture, there are a few activities to do and avoid the day of and after embryo transfer. The most important thing is to take extra good care of yourself. Focus on doing things that help you relax like reading, watching tv, walking your dog, or practicing gentle yoga. Avoid vigorous exercise and having intercourse. It’s also important to avoid the temptation to take a pregnancy test. It may be a full two weeks before pregnancy can be detected. Focus on relaxing and taking care of yourself until then.

And before each session, we go over what my fertility doctors have recommended, and it’s really nice that I can speak with like Dr. Adam who is so knowledgeable about the process. I can always be honest about how I’m feeling, physically and emotionally, and he listens with a caring ear. I am waiting to see how IVF will turn out for me and my husband to have a child, but in the meantime, it’s been really great to have Dr. Adam and his team’s support behind me.

Cost of Acupuncture Treatments
To help improve embryo transfer outcomes, we perform two 30-minute acupuncture sessions on-site. One session will be before the transfer and the other right after receiving the embryo.
We do not accept insurance at the CCRM location, and our introductory rate for the pre and post transfer treatment is $275. We are able to provide you with a superbill to submit for insurance reimbursement.
